Many road-users have a very low degree of awareness when it comes to risks and dangers. One aspect which has come to dominate many drivers’ view of accidents is that they themselves have not been the cause of the accident. Throughout the years one has been able to read newspaper notices where the actions of the drivers do not seem to have been of any significance for the accident: "Aquaplaning took 5 lives." - "The sudden cold and slippery roads caused 2 deaths." Newspapers´ responsibility Road safety close to schools Here the media with its far-reaching penetration carries a large responsibility, as it has the opportunity to get us road users to understand that in the end it is our behavior and way of driving which decides whether we are involved in an accident or not. Road safety close to schools How should we be able to reduce the traffic accidents om our roads? Studying the pictures below you can improve your ability to forsee hazardous moments in the traffic. I hope this will help create better knowledge of different risks that exist in various traffic situations and that this knowledge will contribute to an increased number of safe drivers which will lead to improved road safety in our society. Here you will find descriptions of some risks that are present in common traffic situations. A piece of advice: On a sunny day one may watch the shadows to try and see whether they can reveal if anything is obscured by parked cars, hedges or high fences.
